Music and emotions.
What is music? Well, it’s everywhere, you can hear it in the music of your footsteps, in the beat that raindrops fall to, and most definitely through the speakers of people around the world. Some call music comfort, others call it their salvation while it is just a pastime to others.
Now, almost everyone can appreciate good music, whether it is opera or heavy metal depends solely on personal taste. However, some people tend to take it a step too far, morphing “appreciation” into “obsession”.
Once the earphones are on and the music is playing, there are those who no longer dictate their moods or behavior and the music takes the wheel.
Yes, there are countless who state that music has pulled them out of their mundane lives or their less-than-wanted thoughts. But, there is another side to the influence of music that isn’t seen every day, perhaps due to the lack of media coverage.
Music has the ability to attract the majority of the human species like bees to honey and drive them to do all sorts of crazy things, but then again, that side isn’t really seen.
Music can greatly affect ones’ behaviour and mood. Countless individuals squirm in their beds, crying for no apparent reason due to a sad song that happened to resonate with them.
Others commit crimes-small ones- like petty theft with aggressive music blasting into their ears whilst they imagine themselves partaking in unspeakable acts.
Music has immense power in this way. Take a movie, for example, filmmakers around the world utilize music to the best of their abilities to sway the audience’s reactions in the desired direction.
The low, gradually fastening beat of a drum induces an adrenaline rush while a soft, melodic flute may cause a few tears to drop as it floats into the ears of listeners.
Music amplifies emotions.
That’s just what gives it power and strength. Music, in all its joy-giving, serotonin-inducing glory also has its dark side, as most things do. Once you overstep your limits, there’s no telling how deep into the abyss that is music.
For behind the light and happiness, lies the shadow it has cast. The shadow of badly made decisions and irreversible mistakes.
